"Philip Schlesinger gave the opening keynote at the conference ‘State of Play: Art and Culture in Scotland Today’, held at the University of Glasgow’s Gilmorehill Centre. With 190 attendees from across Scotland’s arts world, the conference, organized by the ahm consultancy, testified to the great appetite for debate on the future of funding. Philip’s lecture set out the UK and Scottish policy context for culture and reflected on the issues confronting Creative Scotland. From the floor, Susan Galloway gave an invited comment based on her research into the Scottish Arts Council."
